It all began in 1986...
I entered the video editing business in 1986. My company was called The Edit Centre and its mission was to provide video editing services to the public. Back then though, very few people were editing their videos, just filming with the new technology. So I began transferring old home movies to VHS and the business began to grow.
As more and more people started using video, the need for video editing grew. This allowed me to purchase a brand new edit suite in 1991 with the latest technology with a video switcher called The Video Toaster.
In 1997 non-linear video editing equipment came on the market and this changed the world of video editing forever. Before that, with tape based editing, everything had to be laid on in order and you couldn't insert a piece of video later because it was already on tape. With non-linear, you could now cut and paste. It was like word processing was to the typewriter. Finished projects required VHS copies and the need was met with an automated duplication system.
I could go one with the changes in technology and how that impacted the business but that's for another time and place. Suffice it to say, a lot has changed in the last twenty years. If you choose to use The MP4 Center, you're dealing with someone who has been with video from the very start and has helped thousands of people with their family memories over the last 38 years. I guarantee you will be satisfied with the results.
